Covering an area of one square kilometer, the University of Macao is the only public comprehensive university in Macao. On entering the campus, one can’t help but marvel at the beautiful scenery. Here are three of my favourite ways to enjoy UM’s beauty.
- Campus Loop Service
If you prefer a sedentary lifestyle, the shuttle bus service offers you the best option for sightseeing. The bus departs at the Postgraduate Houses stop and goes anticlockwise to Anthony Lau Building, the nearest spot from which you can walk to the library. After that, you will pass the University Hall and the Administration Building, before arriving at the Faculty of Science and Technology. The shuttle bus also stops at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Law, the last two stops, before returning to the Postgraduate Houses.
For sporty folks, walking might be a perfect choice. You wouldn’t want to miss the beautiful flowers along the way , latana flowers that create a sea of purple next to the library , bauhinia in front of the library , powderpuff flowers on the lakeside, African tulip trees near the Sports Complex, and frangipani flowers in pink, white and yellow . Nothing is more fascinating than tracing the flowers and the trees. However, many of these were only available before Typhoon Hato rampantly destroyed the trees and flowers on campus. I’m sure you are just like me, looking forward to seeing their new sprouts.
- By Bike
Facing Taipa and Coloane, the campus provides a wonderful location to enjoy the view from across the sea. Starting from Perfect Goodness Avenue, you can walk down the University Avenue, where you can enjoy the breeze from the sea. The natural beauty of Coloane and the splendour of Taipa are side by side. How do you enjoy our beautiful campus? Let us know!
