New Year Resolutions
Hey, the Year of the Pig is approaching! Do you still remember the to-do list you made last year for the Year of the Dog? Have you carried them out? If the answer is yes, you can simply skip this section. Otherwise, it might be helpful for you to read this short piece and draw up a practical New Year resolution.
1. Pick the right resolution: First of all, your goals must be do able and meaningful. Your goals should be SMART: specific,
measurable, achievable, relevant,and time-bound. Reflect on the previous year ’s resolution and see how to improve the one this
2. Stop procrastinating: Procrastination can be devastating. Once you start to procrastinate, you lag behind; and as you fall
behind your plan, you’ll start to feel lazy and discouraged. It is a vicious cycle you must avoid. To overcome procrastination, you
need a resolution as a propeller .
3. Spend less time on your phone: Today various mobile phone applications take up significant chunks of time for virtually
everybody. We rely too much on our phones. We suppose the phone is a time-saving technology . Indeed, it makes our life easier
in most cases, but not always. Google Maps may help you find your way, but asking a pedestrian may be a better solution. Also,
we get anxious when we see the latest posts shared by our friends on social networking apps like WeChat. Furthermore, constant
checking and replying to email messages will occupy an incredible amount of time, believe it or not. Set a time limit for mobile
phone use right now!
Although it may sound a bit intimidating, it will be rewarding if you successfully stick to your SMART New Year resolution
while avoiding the pitfall of procrastination and putting an en d to indulging yourself on your phone. Before you follow through
